Cao Xuan Huy

Cao Xuân Huy is a fiction writer and memoirist (not to be confused with a prominent scholar of the same name).
He joined the South Vietnamese Marines in 1968, was arrested by the Communists in March of 1975, escaped the country by boat in 1982, was given asylum by the US, where he settled in California. He is best known for Tháng Ba Gãy Súng [Broken Gun in March], a classic memoir about the collapse of South Vietnam. Published in California in 1986, with a preface by Nguyễn Xuân Hoàng, this book has been reissued seven times. He is also the managing editor of the prominent literary journal Văn Học.
