Nguyen Trai
From Wikivietlit
Nguyễn Trãi (1380–1442) was a poet and political leader.
He was born in Thăng Long (present day Hanoi), where he also died, executed after being wrongly accused of killing the king. A pioneer of Chữ Nôm, he is considered one of the greatest figures in Vietnamese literature. He was also the main advisor to Lê Lợi, who drove out the Chinese invaders to found the second Lê Dynasty (1418–1527, 1533–1788). Nguyễn Trãi's most famous composition is "Bình Ngô Đại Cáo," a declaration of Vietnamese independence, written in Chinese verse.
