Note on the translator

Qui-Phiet Tran is Professor Emeritus of English at Schreiner University. He received his Ph.D. in American Studies with a concentration on American literature from the University of Texas in Austin in 1978. He is the author of William Faulkner and the French New Novelists (Carollton Press, 1980) and has published articles on American literature and Asian American literature in Journal of the American Studies Association of Texas, New Orleans Review, Amerasia Journal, Asian-American Writers, Studies in Short Fiction, and elsewhere. Currently he is completing an autobiographical novel.
